About

Detailed Presentation

In Africa, financing doesn't come from banks alone. Many entrepreneurs succeed by drawing on alternative solutions that are often more accessible, more flexible and better suited to local realities. Microcredit, tontines, community savings, fintech, crowdfunding… these mechanisms are now genuine levers for launching or growing a project. This course immerses you in these different financing methods so you can understand how they work, along with their advantages and their limits. You will learn to choose the most relevant solutions for your project, to structure your financial strategy and to mobilise the available resources effectively. Through a practical, field-oriented approach, you will be able to finance your project even in an environment where access to conventional credit is limited.

Overview

What this course covers

Financing Your Project in Africa: Microcredit, Digital Tontines and Alternative Solutions is an online UpSkills course in Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Startups in Africa, organised into 8 modules, 22 lessons and 3h 51m of content. Each sequence pairs theory with hands-on practice so that what you learn transfers directly to a real professional setting.

By the end of this programme you will be able to understand the different sources of financing in Africa (both formal and informal), master how microcredit works and the conditions for accessing it and make effective use of tontines and community savings systems. These skills are built up gradually across the course, consolidating the fundamentals before moving on to more advanced material.

The learning path opens with “Introduction to the course” and closes with “Quiz”, taking in “Section 1 - Understanding the realities of funding in Africa”, “Section 2 – Microcredit: opportunity or trap” and “Section 3 – Traditional tontines & digital tontines” along the way. The sequence is designed so each module builds on the one before it.

This course is aimed at learners at intermediate level looking to build their skills in Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Startups in Africa. It suits both individual upskilling and a company-led development plan, and needs no special software or equipment to follow.

The programme is led by L'équipe d'experts Up Skills; you learn at your own pace, with no fixed schedule, from desktop, tablet or mobile; an UpSkills certificate is issued once you complete the course.
