About
Detailed Presentation
This course offers a practical approach to the financial and economic management of sport, tailored to the realities of clubs, academies, federations, leagues and sports event organisers. It explains how a sports organisation creates value, generates revenue, controls its spending and protects its cash flow. The course places particular emphasis on the difference between sporting performance and financial soundness, as well as on the need to base decisions on real economic data rather than on enthusiasm or sporting results alone. You will also learn to assess the robustness of a business model, to distinguish secured revenue from revenue at risk, to spot financial drift and to anticipate the cash flow cycles specific to the sports sector.
Overview
What this course covers
Sports Economics: Understanding the Financial Foundations of a Sports Organisation is an online UpSkills course in Sports Management, organised into 9 modules, 27 lessons and 5h 26m of content. Each sequence pairs theory with hands-on practice so that what you learn transfers directly to a real professional setting.
By the end of this programme you will be able to ● Understand how a sports organisation really works economically and ● Identify the main drivers of value creation for a club, an academy or a sports body. These skills are built up gradually across the course, consolidating the fundamentals before moving on to more advanced material.
The learning path opens with “MODULE 1 — Beyond the myth running an industry, not a passion” and closes with “QUIZ”, taking in “MODULE 2 — Identifying the real value drivers: spotting what genuinely creates lasting economic value”, “MODULE 3 — Reading a sports business model without illusions” and “MODULE 4 — Understanding where money is made (and lost)” along the way. The sequence is designed so each module builds on the one before it.
This course is aimed at learners at intermediate level looking to build their skills in Sports Management. It suits both individual upskilling and a company-led development plan, and needs no special software or equipment to follow.
The programme is led by L'équipe d'experts Up Skills; you learn at your own pace, with no fixed schedule, from desktop, tablet or mobile.

Requirements
Before you start
No academic prerequisites, particular qualification or specific technical skill are explicitly stated in the document.
The course can therefore be taken without advanced expertise in finance. That said, to get the most from the examples and tools provided, it helps to have an interest or experience in how a sports organisation, club, academy, federation, league or sports event operates.
A basic grasp of budgets, spending, income and management is useful, but the essential financial concepts are explained through real-life situations and practical tools.
