About

Detailed Presentation

This course helps you develop a structured approach to managing sports organisations by working on the dimensions that genuinely determine their strength: governance, decision-making, strategy, delivery, performance management and continuity. It shows how to move beyond an organisation driven by habit, firefighting and reliance on a few key individuals, towards a clearer, more stable and higher-performing structure. Through real-world situations and directly applicable tools, the course helps you identify organisational imbalances, clarify roles and responsibilities, secure decision-making channels, set realistic strategic priorities and turn the organisation's direction into concrete, measurable action. The aim is also to build an organisation capable of sustaining its performance over time, without depending solely on immediate sporting results, a single director, a coach or a financial partner.

Overview

What this course covers

Sports Management: Governance, Strategy and Performance in Sports Organisations is an online UpSkills course in Sports Management, organised into 16 modules, 45 lessons and 6h 35m of content. Each sequence pairs theory with hands-on practice so that what you learn transfers directly to a real professional setting.

By the end of this programme you will be able to identify the real weaknesses in how a sports organisation is run, and tell the difference between intense activity and genuine organisational control. These skills are built up gradually across the course, consolidating the fundamentals before moving on to more advanced material.

The learning path opens with “MODULE 1 — Part 01 — Moving beyond management by habit” and closes with “QUIZ”, taking in “MODULE 2 — Identifying the imbalances that hold back performance”, “MODULE 3 — Separating sporting activity from organisational performance” and “MODULE 4 — Clarifying roles and real decision-making power” along the way. The sequence is designed so each module builds on the one before it.

This course is aimed at learners at intermediate level looking to build their skills in Sports Management. It suits both individual upskilling and a company-led development plan, and needs no special software or equipment to follow.

The programme is led by L'équipe d'experts Up Skills; you learn at your own pace, with no fixed schedule, from desktop, tablet or mobile; an UpSkills certificate is issued once you complete the course.

What you'll learn

Key Objectives

Identify the real weaknesses in how a sports organisation is run, and tell the difference between intense activity and genuine organisational control.

Spot the imbalances that undermine performance, particularly issues of power, resources, information, time and coordination.

Distinguish sporting performance from organisational performance in order to assess a structure beyond its results on the pitch alone.

Clarify the real roles, responsibilities and decision-making powers within a club, academy, league, federation or any other sports organisation.

Reduce conflict, interference and workarounds in decision-making by clearly setting out who proposes, who consults, who approves and who delivers.

Build a clear, stable decision-making chain suited to operational, budgetary, sensitive and strategic decisions.
