About
Detailed Presentation
This course is designed specifically to transform the mindset of healthcare managers (senior nurses, chief physicians, ward supervisors) into that of genuine leaders, capable of navigating the complexity of African care systems. It starts from a powerful observation: management in healthcare is unique because it takes place under constant triple pressure — clinical (lives at stake), logistical (shortages) and emotional (daily exposure to suffering). The programme guides participants from a "clinical focus" (centred on the patient and the procedure) to a "managerial focus" (centred on the system and the team). The approach is resolutely pragmatic, favouring zero-cost levers to improve team performance, reduce silent errors and prevent professional burnout. The course teaches how to adapt your leadership style (directive, participative or transformational) according to the level of urgency and the team's maturity, while embedding a lasting culture of safety and trust.
Overview
What this course covers
Leadership and Management of Care Teams is an online UpSkills course in Health & Social Care, organised into 6 modules, 16 lessons and 5h 18m of content. Each sequence pairs theory with hands-on practice so that what you learn transfers directly to a real professional setting.
By the end of this programme you will be able to master the realities of the field: understand why managing a care team differs from any other form of management, and how to factor simultaneous pressures into your leadership. These skills are built up gradually across the course, consolidating the fundamentals before moving on to more advanced material.
The learning path opens with “Section 01 – MODULE 01 – Part 01 – Pressure, urgency and emotional load: everyday life in a care team.” and closes with “QUIZ”, taking in “SECTION 02 - MODULE 04 - Situational, transformational and participative leadership: when to use which” and “SECTION 03 - MODULE 07 - Understanding the specific drivers of motivation for care staff working under constraint.” along the way. The sequence is designed so each module builds on the one before it.
This course is aimed at learners at intermediate level looking to build their skills in Health & Social Care. It suits both individual upskilling and a company-led development plan, and needs no special software or equipment to follow.
The programme is led by L'équipe d'experts Up Skills; you learn at your own pace, with no fixed schedule, from desktop, tablet or mobile; an UpSkills certificate is issued once you complete the course.
